Anime Character Of The Week August 21,2022

From left to right: A-KO and C-KO

This weeks anime character is A-KO from one of my favorite anime series from the past, Project A-KO. The first of four movies came out back in 1986. The story from the first movie is about A-KO just trying to live a “normal” high school life with her best friend C-KO. However, A-KO is not your ordinary high schooler. She has extraordinary strength and speed, and is constantly trying to make it to school on time with the speed of the road runner from Looney Tunes. Also, another student called B-KO has eyes for C-KO and constantly sets up A-KO with traps (like mechas and even other students. Wait until you see Mari!!).

(Here’s B-KO. She’s the daughter of a wealthy family and is constantly fighting with A-KO to get C-KO’s affections and friendship).

To add to the craziness of this movie, there is also an alien invasion. Without giving away too much, the aliens are very unusual and there are some absolutely hilarious moments involving the aliens. In summary, if you haven’t seen Project A-KO, definitely check this movie out. This is one of the classic anime series that was aired a lot on the old Syfy channel on their anime lineup. Also, just recently, this movie just got a Blu-Ray release with a ton of extras. You can buy the Blu Ray version here.

Iria (Zeiram The Animation)

The anime character for this week is one of my favorite anime characters from the past. Iria is a bounty hunter who has gadgets and weapons that would make Batman envious. Iria has a very tough job, hunting down the most dangerous monster in the universe, Zeiram.

(This is Zeiram. This monster is indestructible and also killed Iria’s brother. Another interesting thing about Zeiram is that it has a detactable head which looks like a flying frisbee that can chew you to pieces).

There are also two live action Iria movies which you can find on Right Stuff Anime that are pretty fun to watch as well. I definitely recommend checking out this classic series!!

Marin Kitagawa (My Dress Up Darling)

The anime character of the week is none other than Marin Kitagawa from the anime and manga series, My Dress Up Darling. Marin is considered by many (including myself) to be the anime waifu of the year, if not, of all times. What makes her unique is that, from her outside appearance, she looks like a typical high school girl. However, hidden behind her outer appearance is a dedicated otaku and avid cosplayer. Also, what is fascinating about Marin is that her flaws, like being somewhat clumsy and sometimes making bad decisions (often with hilarious results), makes her even more attractive. Marin is definitely one of the newest anime waifu’s of 2022 and should be on anyone’s list of top 10 anime waifus of all times. Anime Character Of The Week October 3, 2021

The anime character of the week is one of the most famous vampires from not only the Netflix Castlevania Animated Series, but throughout history itself, Dracula or Vlad Tepes. In the Netflix Castlevania animated series, Dracula is one of the most developed villians I’ve ever seen. Even though he is definitely evil and mad, there is a side to Dracula that makes you feel sympathy for him. I can honestly see why Lisa Tepes, his wife, fell for him, along with his followers. Here is an excellent fandom about Dracula from the Castlevania animated series: https://castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Dracula_(animated_series)

This week’s anime character is one of my favorite male characters from Rumiko Takahashi, Inu Yasha. Inu Yasha is a half human, half demon character from feudal japan with incredible strength and powers. What I love about Inu Yasha is that he can be brash and cocky at times, yet is very loyal to his friends. Throughout the entire Inu Yasha series, he changes gradually and becomes powerful enough to save everyone’s life from the evil Naraku and other demons and monsters throughout the storyline. Here is an excellent fandom page about Inu Yasha: https://inuyasha.fandom.com/wiki/Inuyasha.

This week’s anime character is Sasami Masaki Jurai from Tenchi Muyo. Sasami is beloved by not only Tenchi Muyo fans, but fans of anime as well. What makes Sasami such a popular character, is that, despite her young age, she is very mature (though in the first OVA series, she was mischevious with Tenchi and Ayeka). Also, Sasami is a great cook and housekeeper at the Masaki household. She also acts as a mediator between Ryoko and Ayeka when things gets heated between the two over Tenchi’s affections. Here is an excellent fandom link with more info about this extremely popular character: https://tenchi.fandom.com/wiki/Sasami

The anime character of this week is none other than the famous Lum from Rumiko Takahashi‘s classic anime and manga series Urusei Yatsura (Those Obnoxious Aliens). Lum has always been a favorite character of mine ever since I was reading the manga series back during my high school times. She has a lovable personality and is extremely devoted to her “darling” Ataru Moroboshi.

Ataru’s life will never be same ever again (scene from the first episode of the TV series) (^_^)

Urusei Yatsura is a huge series from Rumiko Takahashi with over 195 episodes, 6 movies, and 12 OVA’s. Here is an excellent fandom about this beloved character: https://uruseiyatsura.fandom.com/wiki/Lum

The anime character for this week is one of the most popular characters from Tenchi Muyo, Ryoko Hakubi. What makes Ryoko such a beloved character is her personality. Even though Ryoko is a notorious semi space pirate wanted by the galaxy police (especially in the OVA series), she is generally a kind hearted person who enjoys living life to the fullest. Ryoko is also a love interest and close friend to Tenchi Masaki, yet competes with Ayeka Jurai for Tenchi’s affections. The anime character of the week is Nezuko Kamado from the hit anime, manga and video game series Demon Slayer. Nezuko is the younger sister of Tanjiro Kamado. What’s interesting about Nezuko is that, even though she became a demon, she kept some of her human characteristics, even protecting her brother at times. Nezuko is also a very popular character not only in Demon Slayer, but also, many anime fans has ranked her highly as one of the best anime female characters of all times. Anime Character Of The Week August 22, 2021

The anime character of this week is Naomi Armitage from the anime, OVA series, and movies Armitage III Polymatrix and Dual Matrix. Armitage is a third. Third’s are humanoid androids which looks, blends in, and acts like real humans. While Armitage is technically an android, she has feelings and emotions just like a real person. Throughout the series, Armitage (voiced by Elizabeth Berkeley in Polymatrix) and her partner Ross Sylibus (Keifer Sutherland also in the Polymatrix movie)  fight not only for their survival, but also to uncover the secret origins of the thirds. This is definitely a classic anime series you really should check out. Btw, the first movie, Polymatrix is basically the OVA’s made into one movie. If you want to know more about some questions that didn’t get answered from the first movie, go back and watch the OVA series.
